During those times when Virtual Reality was the "next big thing", while tech companies sold us the dream of living the same lives but with headsets on, and while M. Zuckerberg renamed his billion-dollar company to promote an empty dystopian leg-less digital wonderland, I worked on making my own version of Virtual Reality.
What if those ugly pieces of plastic were actually fashion items ? What if instead of being the only one te see through your digital world, you showed it to the (other) world while seeing nothing for yourself ? What if you could communicate between headset-people and non-headset-people ? What if VR was actually cool ?
Inpired by classical retro-futurism and cyberpunk easthetics, I built three absurd contraptions originally meant to troll those trendy VR events. Those eventually made their wey into artistic performances (Eigengrau), and finally became a statement on my views about the VR dream.
